Appeals court rules that Anna Nicole Smith’s estate is not entitled to billionaire’s fortune

The legal battles over Texas oil billionaire J. Howard Marshall’s estate continue, despite the 2008 death of Anna Nicole Smith. The longstanding fight over nearly $300 million dollars of the billionaire’s fortune has been carried on by the deceased woman’s estate, despite the fact that there is no written evidence to support her claims that she was promised the money. A 9th Circuit Court of Appeals recently sided with a Houston jury’s decision that the billionaire was of sound mind when he wrote his will, promising $1.6 billion dollars to his eldest son.

Families are often required to make difficult decisions when a loved one dies, and issues involving the person’s estate can often be complicated and contentious.
