Child Custody and Vacation
Family vacations are an important part of a child’s life. Not only do they help establish traditions or rituals to look forward to, but they also give families quality time with each other that can be difficult to get on a daily basis at home. Unfortunately, not every family gets to take vacations together. If you and your spouse have divorced and have joint custody of your child, you can still go on vacations with him or her. However, to make sure it is within the terms of your custody agreement, you may have to take a few additional steps before you and your children can leave.
If you have joint custody of your child or children and want to take them on a vacation, you need to speak with a skilled and knowledgeable attorney about your options. At Garg & Associates, P.C., an experienced Conroe divorce lawyer can help you every step of the way in your custody case. Contact us today at 800-242-2151 and take the first step in getting the custody agreement you want.
Making Arrangements for Vacations
If you want to take your child on a vacation, you need to make sure you create an appropriate vacation agreement. This agreement will replace your custody arrangement for the time of the vacation. Make sure it includes the following:
- Date of the trip including departure and arrival times
- Possible activities you will be engaging in as well as a fairly detailed itinerary
You must then make sure the other parent agrees to these terms before going on the trip.
