A 30 year-old Houston man pleaded guilty earlier this week to two counts of aggravated identity theft and one count of access device fraud.

Video footage from several Houston-area Wal-Marts show the suspect using stolen credit and debit card information. Many of the victims of the man’s identity theft took the stand to testify that they did not know the accused nor did they give him permission to use their credit or debit card information.

Authorities found several gift cards re-encoded with stolen card information from at least 18 different victims from across the country in his hotel room. The man could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

A Katy police officer was fired from the department after it was discovered that his truck was involved in a fatal crash on Interstate 10 last week.

The officer was not driving the vehicle, but the Katy Police Department states that it could not condone his careless decision to allow a drunk man to get behind the wheel. A 48 year-old woman and her 12 year-old son were killed when the officer’s friend hit their disabled vehicle.

The mother had pulled over to the shoulder of the interstate after getting a flat tire. The truck then hit their car, causing it to burst into flames. The driver is facing two counts of intoxication manslaughter. The officer has the option to appeal his termination.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victims.

Two 10 year-old special needs boys have been accused of aggravated sexual assault of an 8 year-old classmate on a HISD bus.

Police say that the assault was caught on the bus’ video camera and that, despite the boys’ ages, its investigation had lead to charging the boys with a serious crime. The alleged attack took place on August 25, 2011, but it wasn’t until five days later that parents were notified.

The 8 year-old victim, who suffers from ADHD, was suspended from Thompson Elementary School back in August for what administrators called inappropriate behavior. The two 10 year-old boys are currently in custody.

For the first time in the Houston Texans history, the city’s ten year-old team has finally made it to the NFL playoffs after beating the Cincinnati Bengals over the weekend. This is the first time a Houston football team has made it to the playoffs since the Oilers in 1993.

It was a close game on Sunday against the Bengals with Houston winning 20-19 thanks to rookie quarterback T.J. Yates, who was subbing for injured Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart. Yates ran an amazing eighty yards in the last couple minutes of the game, which pulled the Texans ahead for the win.

Sunday’s win and the Tennessee Titan’s loss to the Saints secured the Texans as AFC South champions.
