A 32 year-old man was arrested in Alabama this weekend after he tried to flee from aggravated sexual assault charges he faces in Houston. The man was arrested by the Talledega Police Department and Houston’s┬áSpecial Crimes unit.

He is suspected of assaulting a 72 year-old woman in her home this past June. She claims the man was in her house, nude, and pinned her arms against her. The woman was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where a nurse administered a rape kit. DNA testing linked the man to the assault.

More illegals deported than ever before

According to a new report by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, more illegal immigrants have been deported this fiscal year than ever before- nearly 400,000 individuals.

About 55% of deportees have been convicted of serious crimes. More than 80,000 were convicted of drug-related crimes, nearly 1000 found guilty of homicide, and 5800 were sex offenders. Additionally, approximately two thirds had crossed the border illegally more than once.

The Obama administration has currently put deportations on hold while it individually reviews more than 300,000 deportation cases involving dangerous criminals. Cases involving people believed to be a threat to national security and repeat offenders are given top priority versus those considered low-risk.

High school students accused of rape

Two high school students are accused of raping a 17 year-old girl in the boy’s locker room at Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North High School. Parents did not learn about the assault until at least a week after it occurred.

The suspects have been identified as a 17 year-old boy and a 16 year-old boy; police say they lured the girl, who was allegedly on Xanax, into the boy’s locker room and then raped her during school hours.

The teenager told the school nurse about the attack and a rape kit was administered at a local hospital. It can take weeks for rape kit results to come through. If the teenage boys are convicted of second-degree felony rape, they could spend up to 20 years in prison.

Astros outfielder, Jordan Schafer, was arrested last night on charges of drug possession in Tampa, Florida. He was driving in his Land Rover around 12:30am when he pulled up next to an unmarked police car at a stop light. The officers smelled the marijuana and saw Schafer smoking a blunt.

Schafer admitted he owned the marijuana and that there was more in his vehicle. After searching his car, law enforcement found 25.9 grams of marijuana and three marijuana-laced peanut butter cups. A misdemeanor drug charge for marijuana has a 20 gram limit; Schafer faces third-degree felony drug charges.

The 25 year-old baseball player was released on $2,000 bond early this morning.
