Seventeen kilograms of heroin were found in a disabled vehicle by a Houston police officer last week, the largest heroin bust the city has ever seen. According to KHOU, the officer found the drugs when he went to help a motorist in a disabled vehicle.

When the officer called for a tow, the driver of the car fled the scene. The suspicious officer searched the car and found the 17 kilograms of heroin and 15 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden behind the back seat.

Authorities estimate the drugs to have a street value of $1.7 million and believe they came from Mexican drug cartels.
