The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas recently found that bankruptcy filings in Texas decreased by 12 percent in April of this year as compared to April 2010.

There were 381 consumer bankruptcy filings in April, a significant decrease from the 433 filings that were made in April 2010. Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases decreased by 13 percent, and Chapter 13 bankruptcy filings decreased by 9 percent.
