If my spouse and I are married in another state or another country, is our marriage recognized in the state of Texas?

The short answer to that question is “yes”. Due to full faith and credit between the states, just as divorce decrees granted in other states are recognized in Texas, legal marriages that take place (excluding same-sex marriages) will be recognized in the state of Texas. Typically, when a marriage takes place outside of the United States, and the parties to the marriage would like the marriage to be recognized in the state of Texas, they have to provide a marriage certificate to the county in which they reside to be filed.
